Hello.
This will be the final article I write for the Westerner. Over my four years in the club, I’ve written a grand total of sixty-one articles, and I’ve enjoyed writing each one. I’ve written consistently for this paper, putting at least one article in each edition, and I’m grateful for the opportunity this club has given me. By being a member of this club, I’ve become a better newswriter and a stronger journalist overall, and I know I’ll take the lessons learned in this club to new heights.
I remember the first time I walked into a Westerner meeting. There were only five of us in total, and we all talked for a bit afterwards. Sadly, none of the people present in that room are students here anymore. Some have graduated, others have transferred out, but what matters is that we were a part of a new era in the history of the Westerner. I’ve seen this club blossom from what it was my freshman year to what it is today, and it’s all because of the strong leaders who ran this club in my four years here.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Westerner’s e-boards, past and present, that have allowed me to get this far. I’ve flourished in this position since I joined the e-board in my junior year, and it’s been a pleasure working with all of you. I’d also like to thank the entire Westerner staff at large for publishing articles and giving me something to read every couple of weeks. Lastly, I’d like to thank all of you, the campus community, for everything. It’s because of all of you that I got to do what I did for my time here.
Now, I stand proud, eyes forward to the future. Whatever it holds for me, I know I’ll be ready, and I won’t soon forget the time I spent writing for you and working with you. Thank you all.
