Proud Smith College graduate Ms. Margaret L. Boyle is the new Assistant Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Relations. Freshly joined from Congressman Richard Neal’s staff just barely nine days ago, Boyle hopes to build on what she believes is an already fantastic University.
As part of her day-to-day task, Boyle’s priority is to not only promote our University but to advocate for students to have more opportunities to learn and grow. Ms. Boyle’s main priority is providing the students with the best possible opportunity to succeed both inside and outside of Western New England University.
“My position will change every day. Some days I will be writing communications for the WNE community and meeting with local stakeholders to collaborate ways in which we can bring more opportunities to WNE students. Others, I will be in meetings with faculty and staff planning events to highlight their and their students’ achievements. Some days I may find myself in Boston or Washington, D.C. advocating for WNE and the student body. I don’t imagine one day will look like the next and that’s what’s so exciting.” -Boyle
Using her 11 years of experience as a “trusted member of Congressman Richard Neal’s staff here in Springfield,” Ms.Boyle is “very excited to join the team at WNE and bring [her] government relations expertise to campus.” As she pursues her career here, she would like students to know her door is always open and would enjoy the opportunity to become the kind of mentor she had in her young adult life. Having the privilege to share the knowledge her mentors gave her, being a student advocate is a role she takes with the utmost respect and admiration.
Here to continue her father’s legacy, Boyle is ready for her next big challenge. Drawn to her love of higher education from Smith College, she joined Western New England University to do right by her city and the University that created her father’s lasting legacy.
“…Because of the education I obtained at Smith College and the terrific experience I had there, I always knew I wanted to get into higher education. As a proud Springfield resident, I wanted to stay here, in my hometown. It was an easy choice to decide on WNE. My father graduated from here with a marketing degree and went on to complete his JD in the law school. I am honored to continue his legacy on campus.” -Boyle
Her goal: promoting the Western New England University family worldwide. As higher education has always held a special place in her heart, she believes our University is the best place to pursue a college education.
“I hope to promote the importance of a WNE degree here in Springfield, across the Commonwealth, and nationwide. We have a very special institution here and I plan on advocating for it everywhere I go!” -Boyle
Here to make Western New England a better place, she hopes to create a lasting impact on both her father’s legacy and a new one for herself.
