Bold Media Festival is right around the corner on Saturday, April 22nd. WNEK, GBTV, The Cupola, The Review of Art and Literature, and The Westerner have been working hard to create a special event celebrating all types of media across campus.
Earlier this semester, students were able to submit their work to five different categories: Written, Photography, Audio, Film, and Art. One representative from each Bold Media club was chosen as a judge for a specific category. Many entered the competition, but only one winner will be chosen for each category.
The award ceremony will be held on the fourth floor of the University Commons and is invite-only to those who entered the competition and to the members of the Bold Media clubs. Although the award ceremony is exclusive, an after-party will be held in Rivers Memorial Hall from 8 pm to 10 pm on the same day. There will be free food, great music, and raffles. The after-party will be Shrek themed, so those planning on going better prepare their best ogre impression!
If you wanted to enter the competition but missed the deadline, don’t worry. Bold Media Festival runs every year, and in the meantime, why not join Bold Media? Each club specializes in a different type of media, so there is something for everyone.
WNEK specializes in music and radio, as other clubs can request them to put on music for their events. GBTV specializes in film and television and can usually be seen around campus filming or recording events. The Cupola specializes in photography, as they put together a yearbook every academic year. You can usually find them snapping pictures or managing a photo booth during events. The Review of Art and Literature gathers art, photography, and written work to put into an art and literary magazine. Similar to The Cupola, The Review publishes its book every academic year. And finally, The Westerner reports on campus and local news to publish a newspaper every three weeks. Not only does The Westerner look for news, but they also publish creative and opinionated pieces as well.
With so many Bold Media clubs to choose from, why not check each of them out and see if any pique your interest? Bold Media is a great way to get involved on campus, meet great and interesting people, and make new friends.
