The Writer’s Forum is a safe haven on campus for all creative minds to enjoy. First created in January 2022, Amanda Madison, President and Founder of the Writer’s Forum created this paradise to bring together fellow writers like herself.
“A lot of students on this campus have told me writing “isn’t their thing.” Yet, I think writing can become anyone’s hobby with a little time and patience. Writing can truly be an outlet, a window to the soul, and a way to get your voice heard. If you find it slightly appealing, stop by on Thursdays at 5 pm in CSP 187 and give it a try. I guarantee you that you’ll at least meet some really delightful people.” -Amanda Madison
As president of the Writer’s Forum, she strives to create the best environment for her writers. Amanda’s roles include “to organize meeting agendas, leading the group through conversations, and make sure everyone feels like they are in an inclusive, safe environment.”
Wanting to share the joys of being a writer, Amanda created the club to inspire other writers much like herself to enjoy their passions and create a safe place for imaginative minds. “I am a passionate writer, and I wanted to share that dedication with the world. A lot of people do not see the artist inside of them. The Writer’s Forum is a place where they can find that inner voice, or enhance it if they already did.” – Amanda Madison.
“The forum is a really wonderful space to just create and meet with others who love to work with words of any medium! We love to meet new people and are always looking to have fun with words or just in general. Anyone who is even slightly interested in what we do on any given Thursday night should stop by CSP 187 at 5 pm.” -Iris Daniels, Marketing Director
With the E-board election just recently occurring, The Writer’s Forum transitioned from one generation to the next. The positions are decided democratically by vote to create the fairest possible chance for all students looking to apply. To ensure all students are well informed, multiple discussions concerning E-board applications have occurred to inform students of when and how the application process works.
“Our E-board is currently in transition! Our next year’s E-board is as follows. I am returning as President. Our vice president is Jasmine Yard. Our secretary is Morgan Domenighini. Our treasurer, who is also the incumbent, is Thomas Martin. Lastly, we finally have a Marketing Director in Iris Daniels.” – Amanda Madison.
As president of the Writer’s Forum, Amanda hopes to leave a lasting legacy even far beyond her graduation. To ensure this, her goals include “I want to bring a love of writing to more people from all majors. Beyond that, we are hoping to get some merchandise and events out to the campus next year! We are planning on collaborating with the English department to find speakers.”
“I want The Writer’s Forum to continue to be a safe and kind place for exploring writers after I leave. Right now, we have a very kind and welcoming community I look forward to seeing every week. I hope we can continue to improve devoted writers and inspire new ones. I know with the membership we have now, I am leaving the club in excellent hands to guide the next generation. The forum is filled with very caring and individually talented people. Everyone has their own special spark they bring to the table.” – Amanda Madison.
