Love, both platonic and romantic, was in the air the night of February 16th in the Campus Center Mall. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Cupola Yearbook Club held its annual Palentine’s Day celebration. The event, traditionally a smaller-scale event, was made slightly bigger this year.

Just before 7, people began to file into the Campus Center in anticipation. The food provided consisted of candy, such as lollipops, as well as cupcakes, pizzas provided by Big Y, and Ritz crackers. Aside from the food, a photo backdrop was set up for people to pose in front of. The pictures could be taken by camera or phone, the latter allowing for Polaroid pictures to be handed out. There was also a station for Stuff-A-Critter, a smaller-scale Build-A-Bear-esque attraction. These items ran out quickly, as it was first-come-first-serve on a limited amount of plushies (and a more limited amount of stuffing). After the first hour, the event had calmed down, and people were relaxing and having a good time.

The strong turnout pleased attendees and organizers alike.

“It was a great event (with) a huge turnout,” Gwen Scorpa, a sophomore student, noted.

“I was pleasantly surprised that we underestimated how many people would come (to the event),” Clara Donivan, a first-year student who attended the event, claimed.

The event was a massive success, as all the goodies ran out fairly quickly. Amanda Madison, a senior student, said, “Palentine’s Day was a nice place to bond with people and just generally have fun.”

Thomas Martin, a junior student, said, “Palentine’s Day was a great way to celebrate the week of Valentine’s (Day), and I’m hoping it continues next year.”

Overall, Palentine’s Day was yet again a roaring success, and it will most definitely be back in full force again come next Valentine’s Day week. Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, it’s a great event where you can hang out with your loved ones.
