Calling all seniors!!! The advancement staff is looking for a student speaker at Commencement this year. The deadline to submit your speech is Monday, April 8, at 5:00 p.m. You can submit using the following link: https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=b3mltakZP0mcsnqItOmxI5ujxLXWPlVEt4WqyqYgIVtUNElCRjIxMTlPVUxJWlpaWVpGTldEVFhCVCQlQCN0PWcu. If you are interested in speaking at Commencement, please read the qualifications required to submit.
Students who are interested in being the Class of 2024 Commencement Speaker must meet the following criteria:
- Must meet senior standing and eligibility to graduate in May 2024 (or have graduated in December 2023)
- Must have a grade point average of 2.7 or above
- Students should have completed at least 60 credits at Western New England University
Students who are interested in being the Class of 2024 Commencement Speaker must also adhere to the following speech guidelines:
- Speeches should be no shorter than 2 ½ minutes and no longer than 5 minutes in length.
- Speeches must be submitted in written and audio format.
- You can create the audio submission of your speech using Zoom or any platform you are comfortable with.
- Speeches must appropriately express the impact that WNE and its community have had on you and your senior class.
- Present your speech in a relatable and engaging manner.
- Deliver a legacy message for after graduation. Express a positive and inspirational message that will leave your classmates proud of graduating from WNE.
- Include future goals and aspirations.
Speeches that are submitted will be assessed on a 1-5-point system on the following elements:
- Clear Message
- Creativity
- Relevance
- Quality of Writing
- Potential for Improvement
- Connected with Guidelines
