The Western New England baseball team has another season just around the corner. This season the baseball team is super excited to compete, and with the schedule announced, the time has come for the Western New England community to support our Golden Bear athletes!
The 40-game schedule will feature a trip to Florida for the RussMatt invitational, where the team will play seven non-conference games during spring break. Among the 40 games, 16 will be against their conference opponents, which are their most important games.
Last season, the baseball team went 24-20 overall with an 8-6 record in conference play, good enough for the fifth seed in the conference’s postseason tournament. Despite being a lower seed, the Golden Bears went all the way to the championship game after taking out some of the top-seeded teams. The Golden Bears will look to make some noise again this upcoming season.
The season begins on March 1st at 12:00 p.m. against the cross-town rivals of Springfield College in a doubleheader. They then will move on to conclude their three-game road trip with a visit to the University of St. Joseph before heading to Florida for the RussMatt invitational for those seven games. The Golden Bears’ first home game of the season will be on March 19th against the United States Coast Guard Academy. Their first conference game is at home for a doubleheader versus Curry College on March 22nd. The Bears will conclude their conference play and their regular season on the road at Roger Williams University on May 3rd for a doubleheader.
The Western New England baseball team comes into this season with Dan Gomez leading the charge as the team’s head coach for the 12th straight season. The team has successfully won three CCC conference championships, with Gomez leading the charge, and four NCAA Baseball Championship tournament runs.
