By Aiden Carmona
What did it take for you to leave them behind
To leave the friends you cherished by your side
My dear soldier?
What is it that eats you up inside? I wish to know the memories that pain you.
Maybe then I could make that pain mine too.
Would your pain be put to ease if you didn’t bear it alone?
No matter what happens, you’ll always be the same as I knew you
You dear soul who never learned to live life all for your own
That I was able to know you
That I was able to love you
That’s something I will hold close to me until I die
Chasing dreams that lie far beyond the sky
The great voyager ascends into a cold journey
And disappears into a world no one has seen
So many things shape the course of our lives
Yet so many of them go unrecognized
So they’re lost to time
Where is it that you’ve gone to, my dear forgotten memory?
Is it even possible to ever see you again?
That I was able to know you
That I was able to love you
That’s something I will hold close to me until I die
(This poem is based on the song “Voyager – Gravestone Without Date”)
