The epitome of receptivity,
The empty space that provides a place for language and music to subsist. Consider my silence a gift,
An invitation to take up space, to be, to exist.
And your words a present for me
A kind of vulnerability unique to you and you only.
Imagine how this exchange might be
Had your words not been guests in my psyche.
Imagine how lonely
To have someone who couldn’t appreciate stillness and empty space. Good thing you have me
To help carry your story when the words are slow to roll off your tongue, And the emotion becomes heavy.
See how quiet is not always intimidating.
See how silence can be loving.
