Students from RHA, CAB, Senate, & U & ME had the opportunity this past weekend to travel to Hartford for the National Association for Campus Activities Conference (NACA). While at NACA, students had the opportunity to connect with vendors, students, and professionals from other institutions from across the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, Washington state and Missouri.
They saw showcases with amazing acts, had the chance to talk to agents, and were able to meet those acts in the marketing place following the showcase.
They also had the opportunity to sit in on educational sessions presented by their peers, industry professionals, and staff members from other institutions. They learned about everything from concert planning to connecting with commuter students, and a huge focus of this years conference was diversity, equity, and inclusion and social justice initiatives and programming.
Not only did the students bring back a world of knowledge, but they brought back so many great programming ideas to agree with the campus community.
This weekend was great for the students, but it was wonderful as well for us staff members who had the privilege of attending. We were able to connect with old friends and make new ones. As one colleague put it, “this weekend was a cup-filler for a lot of people.” I can’t speak for the other students and staff, but this weekend definitely filled my cup and I can’t wait to share everything I gained at the conference with all my students.
