The United and Mutually Equal (U&ME) club is dedicated to having an inclusive school community and being somewhere students of our university can understand where other students come from and learn about other cultures. U&ME wants to bring others together, so that students can have fun in a safe space to celebrate their cultural differences with other students in the community.

As a first year student, Naressa Kempadoo wasn’t fitting in, but U&ME became the solution. Kempadoo was able to connect and feel welcomed. She felt so welcomed because it was a safe place she could go and feel she was meant to be there.

U&ME meets every week on Thursday in the Cultural Center at 12:30 p.m. They don’t have an end time because they feel as though everyone should be heard during the time they meet. Anyone in our University community is welcome to come and join a meeting.

The doors are always open, and U&ME wants to welcome everyone! President Anuoluwapo Mustapha and U&ME ask for a chance for them to get to know you and for you to get to know them. They are an amazing, fun and exciting group.

U&ME has been involved in the school community for over five years, and each year they put on many events to celebrate the diverse culture within Western New England University. One event that many of you may be familiar with is World Fest, which the club puts on annually in the Fall.

World Fest showcased many different foods and music from cultures around the world.. On February 15, 2022, U&ME and the campus center hosted the Caribbean Food Fest, and their next event will occur on February 24, 2022. This event will honor Black History Month and the many Black Americans who have impacted history and continue to impact us today.

U&ME is putting together a PowerPoint to celebrate these numerous and important black figures, and they will serve food from many different cultures. So if you love culture and food, come and join them for an event from 12:30 – 2 p.m. in the Campus Center!
