The Super Mario Bros Movie has recently come out, and the movie itself is already breaking records. The movie gained the biggest worldwide opening on opening weekend with a gross pay of 377.5 million dollars.
I was very skeptical about this movie even though I am a huge Mario fan, but I can say this movie lives up to the hype. Chris Pratt was a very interesting actor to play Mario in the new movie. There were all the different memes of him saying, “It’s a Me Mario,” and his dialogue about him stomping … KOOPAS in the original Mario arcade game. However, he does a good job as Mario while trying to go for a somewhat Brooklyn accent. Charlie Day makes a good Luigi; he plays his character right, but I do wish we can see more Luigi in the upcoming films. Anya Taylor was a very enjoyable Peach that wanted to defend her kingdom from the King of the Koopas, Bowser! Speaking of the man himself, Jack Black has stolen the spotlight in this movie; his Bowser was amazing and mind-blowing how he came up with the character. There is also his new hit single, “Peaches,” which he plays in the movie. Michael Keagon Key was a very enjoyable Toad, the pitch was perfect, and I liked how they really tried to make Toad his own character and make him different from any of the other toads. Seth Rogen was very entertaining as Donkey Kong, and it showed why he was chosen for the role. Charles Martinet, aka the voice of Mario, had a good role too. He had two characters, and you can recognize the voice too.
Easter eggs in the movie were all over; you can see easter eggs from your favorite Nintendo games. Every time I see this movie, I keep finding a new easter egg, and I get so excited.
The soundtrack was perfect; They put the time and effort into this movie while using a lot of the music from the Mario games, which is amazing because everyone can think of their childhood. I can’t stop listening to it, which is now available on Spotify. The most popular song is “Peaches” by Jack Black. TikTok, YouTube shorts, and Instagram Reels have used this song, and it has gained a lot of popularity. The song can get nominated as best original song at The Oscars, which has some people from the Academy making that happen. At the end of the day, you can say this movie is Mario Approved!
