The cool fall breeze can be felt throughout campus in Western New England University. The first semester is in full force, and the hot summer air is being replaced with the changing colors of the trees and the cool breezes of the fall season. “The colors look really nice,” Student Michael Pedro of the campus yearbook club, The Coppola, stated. Fall is a lot more than just the pretty colors; Fall is deeply rooted in the culture of New England. The two major holidays that are in the season, Thanksgiving and Halloween, are very big holidays that are celebrated by a great number of people in the New England area. “Halloween is a huge event,” Pedro stated. The overall atmosphere of the season goes along with these holidays because the colors associated with the season, which are orange, red, and brown, are heavily associated with the holidays. Halloween is associated with orange and black, while Thanksgiving is associated with brown and red.

But despite the good things throughout the season, there are a few drawbacks. There are a few things like allergies and the new chores. Falling leaves bring new lawn care jobs that must be done around your home. Depending on where you live and the number of trees around any property, nobody can control how many leaves fall, and it may become work that lasts hours. “Allergies aren’t great in the fall,” Pedro described. A lot of people in the area have allergies that Fall brings out in people, and it can turn people off of the season. But it all boils down to taste, whether you think that the holidays and ambiance weigh out the allergies and lawn work.
