Attention, all undergrad commuters! Have you wanted to provide your fellow off-campus residents with a voice on this campus? If your answer is “yes,” then there’s a club for you. The Commuter Council has been low on members recently, and they’re looking to build up their ranks.
What does the Commuter Council do? Secretary Rachel Brenzel said, “The Commuter Council works to improve commuter life on campus. [We hold] events at times that more commuters are able to attend.” These events include the annual gingerbread house-making event shortly before the end of the Fall semester, as well as “Burritos With Bear” and “Donuts With the Dean.” The Commuter Council has also been working to make improvements to the Commuter Lounge, located in the Campus Center. “In the past, these improvements have been [things like] a TV in the Commuter Lounge for all to use, [as well as] making the Commuter Lounge more welcoming [overall],” Brenzel stated.
Joining the Council is simple; simply attend a meeting. “[Meetings] are usually held during Common Hour and we will make a University Post when the next meeting is scheduled,” Brenzel said. The Commuter Council typically meets in the Commuter Lounge.
There are many reasons to join the Commuter Council. “People should join the Commuter Council if they want to help improve the [commuter experience] at Western New England University,” Brenzel said. “The council is currently in need of a new E-Board as many are leaving.”
The Commuter Council would appreciate any engagement it can get. In order to continue providing a voice for the commuter students at Western New England University, they need more people. Please reach out to either Rachel Brenzel or Kaitlin Bevins if you are interested in joining. You can also check your University Posts for announcements regarding upcoming meetings and follow @wnegbcommuters on Instagram.
Your assistance will make a difference in the lives of all commuters at Western New England University.
