By Isreal John
If you too thought the world would end with you
That the sun would not rise and the moon would not fall
That the trees would not grow and the birds would not nest
That all hope would be gone and all faith would be wrong
I’m telling you now I’ve seen it all too and I know what is true
Our minds play tricks
Cruel and long
They plague our soul
Distorting our vision
Turning our voices to venom and our lungs and tongues to poison
My friend
You’re not wrong to be afraid
I am afraid too
You’re not wrong to have hate
I have hate too
And you’re not wrong to surrender
I’ve wanted that too
But every war needs an army and I have faith in your mission
So if you choose to fight on, I will fight alongside you
But then again, that’s nothing new
We all already knew
That something so blue should never be fought alone
So no matter what you choose, just know I’ll be with you
