Saturday, September 28th marked the second annual running of WARP Gaming’s Mario Party event. The event, which brought the beloved video game franchise of the same name to life, saw an impressive turnout that kept attendees playing throughout the night. The event ran from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and it featured many new aspects that built off of what made the event special last year. There were three maps, those being the Yoshi Isles sponsored by the Cupola Yearbook, Rosalina’s Observatory sponsored by the Gender & Sexuality Alliance (GSA), and Bowser’s World sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB). The event ran smoothly, and to top off the event, the Yoshi’s Isles map ran an eight-player game to spice things up. The game ran for four turns, and players were split into groups of two. After the games were done, WARP Gaming’s president, senior student Caylen Hunt, delivered a speech thanking everyone for attending. The speech was immediately followed by a ceremonial throw of the iconic Blue Shell by former WARP Gaming president, Western New England University graduate Jacob Vautrain. “Honestly, I thought it was a very successful event. It was more of the overall atmosphere the event had, which it also had last year, more or less,” Hunt said. “It seemed like everyone had a great time at the event.” Hunt also noted that one of the most fun parts of the event was how much unpredictability they added to some points. “The chaos we added was fun,” Hunt said. Overall, the event was a hit, and it’s likely to return next year. When it rolls around once more, the Western New England University community will again welcome it with open arms.
