Grownups are certainly very strange
is what The Little Prince taught me.
Adults will likely see my arm
and ask “why the cowboy hat?”
“It’s not a cowboy hat,” I say
“but a snake eating an elephant.”
The adults will look at me with disapproval
as our conversation closes.
I think to myself
why do they care so much
about what I choose to do
with my body?
Unlike them
when I see my arm
I will see Childlike wonder
Though, I am now a grownup myself
my inner child will continue to heal
and that’s all that matters.
